Fay Chamoun

Image of Fay Chamoun Fay Chamoun is one of the most well-known names among Melbourne's floral design circles. She has been in floristry for over 35 years. Fay is the owner of the prestigious floral design school,Floral Art School of Australia and International Floral Design School that offers day, evening and home study floristry courses.

Fay's floral school focuses on teaching how to create many different flower arranging styles including traditional and modern floral designs, European floral arrangements, basket designs, corsages, gift boxes of flowers, bridal bouquets, wedding flowers, funeral tributes, posies and special occasion flowers.

Many of her students enroll in the floral course to become a florist and floral designer in the floristry industry or to work from home but Fay also has students who want to learn to arrange flowers for their own personal satisfaction and enjoyment.

The Floral Art School of Australia was established in 1972, ever since, thousands of students from all over the world have graduated from the school.

Fay believes in teaching how to care for flowers so they last the longest possible time which is usually the secret behind successful florists.

Fay Chamoun tries to help her students understand the true connection between flowers and emotions. Many of her valuable lessons learnt over the years are now imparted to her students at the school. Fay believes that flowers touch the emotions of other peoples' lives. A florist has the pleasure of helping a bride-to-be select just the right flowers and type of bridal bouquet for the most important day of her life - her wedding day. The florist shares the joy and excitement when a proud new father comes in to order flowers for his wife in hospital. Fay says, Floristry is not all glamor. There is a lot of hard work and long hours involved. She believes a cheerful attitude and passion for flowers is what makes Floristry seem like an easy job despite the challenges involved.

Fay says the biggest plus point about being a florist is that it gives a feeling of fulfillment of being involved in such a creative industry such as floristry.

Besides flowers, travel is Fay's next passion. She loves traveling especially to the USA which she visits every year.

The best part about Floristry, according to Fay, is one never stops learning. "I receive lots of lovely letters from our students saying how much they have enjoyed the course. It's rewarding when you can help someone develop their creative skills," she says.
