Plum Blossom (Prunus Mei), a flower which produces shades of pink and white and gives off a delicate fragrance, adopted as the national flower of Taiwan on July 21, 1964.The Flower has great symbolic value for the Chinese people because of its resilience in harsh winter weather.
Apart from that Taiwan also has selected floral emblems for its Counties, Magnolia is the flower emblem of Chiayi County, Common Bombax of Taichung County and Gaillardia of Penghu County.
