Maintenance of House Plants
To arouse public interest in horticulture and to enhance awareness of greening, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will hold a horticulture education exhibition to promote home gardening on (October 31) and on Sunday (November 1) from 10am to 4pm at the Arcade of Kowloon Park.
The Shoshone Flower Building
The Shoshone Flower Building will host the Desert Art & Craft Show from noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 30; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Oct. 31 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Nov. 1 in Shoshone.
This is an opportunity to do some unique Christmas shopping and visit the museum.
Fresh Flowers
he Flower-Box in Rockwall create several dozen fresh flower arrangements every November, contained in often quirky thrift-shop finds, for the special sale on Wednesday.
Greens and Flowers
The Friends of the Elmwood Park Library is sponsoring a free flower arranging demonstration at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 in the library, 1 Conti Parkway.
Bostwick said the demonstration also will include tips for making arrangements, such as "long and low" for a centerpiece.
The White House Garden
The replica of the White House vegetable garden, created by the home gardening company, W. Atlee Burpee & Co., at its Fordhook Farm in Doylestown, PA, will be open to the public for the first time on Friday, Oct. 30, 1 pm-4 pm. Admission is free.
Festival of Roses is one of more than 60 free events
The Parnell Festival of Roses is on this Saturday and Sunday. Set among the colour and vibrancy of newly bloomed roses at the Parnell Rose Gardens, the free family festival will feature live music, fine food, poetry, craft stalls, an art exhibition and more.
Community gardens
A workshop on how to start and maintain community gardens will be the topic on Saturday, October 31 at the Humboldt County Agriculture Center, Eureka (Humboldt Hill exit) from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Erin Derdin-Little will speak to the educational values of community gardens and how to enhance learning, Deborah Giraud will address common pitfalls and some best choices in vegetable gardening, and Stan Schmidt will help us plan quantities to plan and how to propagate.
Fantastic floral arrangements
A number of bright and beautiful buds are to adorn All Saints Church in Kings Langley this weekend as the church celebrates its annual flower festival.
The festival will start on Friday October 30 from 10am to 5pm through to Sunday November 1 from 2pm to 5pm.
Garden Club to meet
Tall Oaks Community Center in Lake Ridge will be a busy place this weekend, as the "Fall Festival" is held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The event is sponsored by LRPRA, and there will be fun activities for the children, and lots of tables of items from vendors and crafters.
Wide variety of plants
Tower Hill Botanic Garden, 11 French Dr., Boylston, will host "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered," the Massachusetts Orchid Society's annual Orchid Show, Oct. 30 from 1-5 p.m. and Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. Orchid vendors from across the country will offer a wide variety of plants, supplies and even jewelry for sale.
Rose blooms
The Harvest of Roses Festival Rose Show and Sale is 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 31 at Kent Plantation House, 3601 Bayou Rapides Road in Alexandria.
There will be exhibits of rose blooms and designs. There will be vendors of rose bushes, bulbs, perennials, companion plants, books, garden ornaments, pottery and more.
Chrysanthemum Festival
During the Chrysanthemum Festival, October 19 through November 22, more than 20,000 colorful, blooming chrysanthemums flourish in the palatial Conservatory. Longwood's experts have trained these fall favorites into unique forms including towering single-stemmed beauties and thousand-bloomers.

Annual Spring Orchid Show
Members of the Ararat Orchid Society will present their annual Spring Orchid Show this weekend.
This show will be the 30th Orchid Show conducted by the club and members are proud of the long history in maintaining quality shows in Ararat for so many years.

Floral design class
Western Nevada College is offering a non-credit floral design class where participants will bring home a weekly arrangement to brighten their home.

Saturday's three lectures (8 a.m. to noon) are at the McKinney Performing Arts Theater. Lunch and walking tours (noon to 5 p.m.) are at the Chambersville Heritage Rose Garden, also in Collin County. Container-grown roses, including Buck roses, will be for sale.
Popular fall exhibition-Kiku
The showcase in the Conservatory Courtyards highlights four different styles of traditional Imperial chrysanthemums, including ozukuri, hundreds of blossoms from a single plant; ogiku, single-stem flowers that range up to six-feet in height; kengai, small-flowered chrysanthemums that cascade down waterfall-like frames; and shinotsukuri, blossoms that open wide to accentuate petals with two different colors.

The Fraser Valley Orchid Society will host the Canadian Orchid Congress (COC) meeting and symposium, in conjunction with their annual orchid show and sale, on Oct. 17 and 18 at the George Preston Recreation Centre.
THE 2009 Flower and Garden show
THE 2009 Flower and Garden show will kick off this Friday in a bloom of colour. Hosted by the Busselton and Districts Horticultural Society, the show is a great opportunity to view some fine horticultural specimens and floral arrangements and pick up a few tips from local gardening enthusiasts.
Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens

Best plants for the auction
The Hanson Garden Club will host a plant auction Wednesday, Oct. 14. Prospective buyers will be able to preview plants starting at 6:30 p.m. and bidding will begin at 7 p.m. The sale will be held in the lower level of the First Congregational Church, 639 High St., Hanson.
Pumpkin decorating contest
Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 8455 Germantown Road in Olive Branch, is hosting its Fall Fun Fest Oct. 24 starting at 11 a.m. There will be food, a pumpkin decorating contest, hay rides, a haunted house, costume contest, live music and a silent auction.
Orchid displays
The Niagara Frontier Orchid Society's annual Orchid Show will highlight hundreds of the colorful flowers through live displays and photography at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2655 South Park Avenue, this weekend.
Places to go
Just about everything you'd want ? trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, ground covers, perennials, vines, spring-flowering bulbs, and citrus trees ? will be on sale. The African violet, begonia, iris, day lily, cactus and succulent and native plant societies will be selling plants, too.
