Wild Cherry
- Wild Cherry
- Prunus avium
The true wild cherry, a very common small tree in Ryedale, especially in the woods on the limestone. The trees produce a mass of white flowers, usually in April, before the leaves. The fruit is normally red, small, hard and rather sour. The flowers grow in clusters rather than all along the twigs, cf. Blackthorn and Bullace/wild plum.
